Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups maash/urad daal
  • 2 small onions
  • 3 small tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp red chili powder
  • 1 tbsp haldi powder
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup chopped cilantro
  • 3 green chili peppers
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 lemon
Instructions
  1. Wash daal well and soak for at least 30 minutes
  2. Chop onions and sauté in some oil until golden brown
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 2-3 minutes on medium high until tomatoes and soft
  4. Add spices and daal
  5. Add 1.5 cups water and stir well
  6. Cover and cook on medium low for about 15-20 minutes
  7. Stir every 4-5 minutes.
  8. Tarka/baghaar: Fry minced garlic cloves in some oil until light golden. Add this to daal
  9. Mix in cilantro and chili’s
  10. Sprinkle lemon and garam masala over it. Serve hot with naan or roti!
